Happy Halloween (Jack 'O Lantern Sculpture)

A big "thank you" goes out to everyone who came out to see my large balloon sculpture at the Atlanta Home Show October 4th through 6th. For those of you who missed it, here is a photo of the 14 foot-tall balloon Jack 'O Lantern:

Like previous home shows, we had a "Guess the Balloons" contest, where contestants tried to guess the number of balloons in the balloon sculpture. On Friday, the sculpture had 3,576 balloons in it. The closest guess on Friday was a tie between Marvin and Gerold; who both guessed 3,500. I marked all the Friday guesses with "FRI" so I would know what day they came in.

Saturday morning, I added more balloons to the sculpture, so Saturday and Sunday the sculpture had 3,902 balloons in it. Valerie was our closest guesser for those two days. She guessed 3,900: OFF BY TWO! Sorry, Marvin and Gerold: she got you this time!

Valerie wins a free one-hour party from Party 'til you POP! Don't worry Valerie, I sent you a separate e-mail already with details.

You guys are getting to be such good guessers! I had an entire stack of guesses within 100 balloons of the total. While this was not my largest Atlanta Home Show sculpture by size, this one had most number of balloons in it.

I want a boat!

Tonight, two of my regulars were at IHOP (brother and sister). She asks for a boat, so I make her a balloon pirate ship. Not a common request, but I get that one every once in a while. Then, her brother asks for an aircraft carrier! I think that is a new one in my 13 years of twisting balloons in restaurants. Here are a few photos of how it turned out:

Burial at Sea

As a balloon artist, I get a lot of common requests. Kids ask me to make balloon swords, balloon hats, and -of course- balloon dogs. The kind of stuff you have seen me make all the time. But I get a lot of strange requests, too. I was surprised lately when a child asked me to make a balloon toilet with a dead fish in it! Here is a photo:

Until next time, keep smiling!

Keep Smiling!

I want to take a moment to thank you, my customers. When I relocated to the Atlanta area less than 3 years ago, it was a real "leap of faith" that I would be able to reboot my balloon business here. I couldn't have imagined things would have come this far, this quickly. This is due almost exclusively to your referrals. It is a simple fact that your referrals have kept me in business.

I met most of you at one of my events, balloon sculpture contests, or restaurant appearances; it is exciting to be in a business were I have personally met almost all of you - or the person who sent you my way!

Please keep it up! If you know of anyone who enjoys balloon art and would like to get my newsletter, please encourage them to join up on my contact page. I get strange new balloon requests all the time and I can't wait to share photos of the craziest ones with you!

Until next time, keep smiling!
